Lower-priced Intel quad-core processors coming in Q3

According to a DigiTimes report, Intel will introduce a lower-priced quad-core processor series to compete with the AMD Phenom X3 triple-core processors.

The Core 2 Quad Q8000 series will be launched in Q3’08. The Q8200 CPU will have an FSB up to 1333MHz, 4MB of L2 cache, and a 2.33GHz operating frequency. Pricing is to be set around US$203 in quantities of 1000.

The Q8000 will not support VT (virtualization) or TXT (Trusted Execution Technology) to differentiate it from the higher-end Q9000 series quad-core processors.
