7Despite the fact that Google’s Android-powered push into consumers’ living rooms won’t be out en masse until this fall, companies have to submit those wireless-enabled products to the FCC for testing. Logitech’s efforts, known as the Revue, have recently seen the light of day in documents available on the government organization’s website.
Not much is known about what’s on the inside, as yet, though a smart guess would probably be some kind of low-powered ARM-based CPU partnered with a graphics subsystem capable of decoding Flash and HD video. The Revue will combine the functionality of efforts such as XBMC and Boxee.tv with DVR features. Android- and iPhone-powered smartphones will be capable of controlling the box over WiFi.
Preliminary specifications for the Revue include the following:
- Processor: Intel CE4100 Atom @ 1.2GHz
- 4GB of local flash storage
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 2 x HDMI 1.3 ports
- 720p video chat (with used with a compatible – and separate – webcam)
The price is as yet unknown, though it’s expected to retail for under $300.
