Lexmark introduced two new series of color laser printers on Monday focused on helping small businesses cutting costs.

The C540 and the X540 series will offer features that are not only budget-friendly but also environmentally-friendly.   They include: built-in duplexing, instant warm-up fuser technology, eco-mode, quiet mode and produces quality prints on recycled paper.

In addition, both series will be equipped with Lexmark’s “leading-edge wireless technology.” The models are Wi-Fi certified 802.11n draft 2.0; a new standard that enables higher transfer rates and a longer range.

The X540 series is a multifunction line of color laser printers.  The top of the line X544 models are four-in-one devices that feature print speeds up to 25 pages per minute.

The C540 series may not be multifunction but the line features a 4800 color quality mode, 1200 x 1200 dpi, and print speeds of at least 21 pages per minute.  They also have a four-in-one color laser printhead and high-yield toner cartridges.

Both series are enrolled in the new Lexmark Rewards program.  This program gives users the opportunity to recycle their empty cartridges and earn free Lexmark toner and imaging kits.  According to Lexmark, customers can save up to 20 percent off the total cost of printing by taking advantage of the program.

The C540 series will range in price from $349-$449 depending on the model.  The X540 series is more expensive; ranging from $599-$699.  Both series will be available at Lexmark.com and various retailers.  There was no mention of when they will be available in the press release.
