Lexmark has revealed the new lexmark MX6500e Multifunction Option, an expansion piece that turns current single function workgroup monochrome devices into multifunction systems allowing current customers to upgrade their devices instead of purchasing a new MFP.

The MX6500e combines with the Lexmark MS710 Series and MS810 Series of single function monochrome laser printers announced last October adding scan, copy, fax and email capabilities. The MX6500e is approximately 8 x 23 x 22 inches and fits on top of the printer, covering the current output tray and control panel.

With the MX6500e addition, customers get a 10.2-inch e-Task color touch screen, single pass scanning up to 86 images per minute and 5,000 pages per day, a 100-page duplex automatic document feeder with a maximum scan size of 11.7 x 17 inches and protects sensitive data with standard network security protocols, data encryption and disk wiping capabilities.

Customers will also receive pre-loaded workflow solutions such as Scan to Network Premium, Barcode Discovery and Scan to SharePoint.

The full list of compatible products include the lexmark MS710dn, MS711dn, MS810n, MS810dn, MS811n, MS811dn and MS812dn monochrome laser printer models.

The Lexmark MX6500e Multifunction Option is available now through authorized dealers for the suggested retail price of $2699.
