Lexmark International Inc., has invited third-party developers to help expand the company’s of all-in-one (AIO) printer-based applications for small and medium businesses (SMBs) and to publish them on Lexmark’s SmartSolutions Center, for users to download to their Lexmark AIOs.

Lexmark SmartSolutions are customizable, one-touch buttons. They allow users to create shortcuts for often used print, copy, scan or fax operations such as scanning a document to e-mail. They also allow users quick access to personalized content like news, weather or photos from the Internet.

The SmartSolutions platform is designed to make life easier for SMB customers. Currently, the SmartSolutions Center has dozens of applications in categories such as tools, calendar, food services, forms and templates, health care, legal, news and sports, photo, real estate, shipping, shortcuts, and social networking.

Today, Lexmark announced its newest SmartSolution, Google Analytics, which analyzes and reports on Web traffic right from the AIO. Google Analytics will be available for download early next month.

Lexmark is now soliciting developers with a strong background in developing Web applications using Adobe Flash technology. To register to participate and begin creating new SmartSolutions using the SDK, go to Lexmark’s development page for further details.
