Lexmark Announces Accessibility Solution for Visually Impaired

by Reads (2,034)

Lexmark introduced the Accessibility Speech Solution, a new solution that focuses on helping visually impaired customers recognize and fix common printer issues such as low ink, paper shortages, paper jams, etc.

The Accessibility Speech Solution allows visually impaired customers who may have difficulty reading the status messages on the touchscreen of the office printer or MFP to receive the status message audibly by pressing the * key followed by the 0 key using the accessible number keypad.

For example, if a visually impaired employee approached the device expecting to find their print job but the tray is empty, they can simply hit the * and 0 keys in sequence and the printer will play the appropriate message such as “the tray 1 is missing” or “the yellow cartridge is missing.” Watch the lexmark Accessibility Speech Solution Demo now!

The Accessibility Speech Solution offers over 60 prompts for a variety of different scenarios and can be customized to fit your businesses needs. It is also available in several languages and can be set for individual users if they have a USB flash drive or the device has a hard drive.

The new solution is compatible with a range of current accessibility software for computers and PDAs including GW Micro Window- Eyes, Freedom Scientific JAWS and MAGic, Ai Squared’s ZoomText, HIMS Voice Sense and Braille Sense and Apple iPhone’s speech recognition software.
