Lenovo ThinkPad X220: Our Deal of the Week

by Reads (13,983)

The 12.5-inch Lenovo ThinkPad X220 received our highest recommendation in our review; our editor said, “The ThinkPad X220 is quite simply the best 12-inch business notebook we’ve reviewed so far.” Need an ultraportable business notebook? You can grab this notebook for $721 on Lenovo’s website with the coupon code THINKSAVINGS.

The sale model is equipped with a second-generation Intel Core i3-2310M processor at 2.1GHz, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, 4 GB DDR3 RAM at 1333MHz, and a 320 GB hard drive at 7200rpm. The 12.5-inch high-quality IPS LED backlit display has a 1366×768 resolution.

In our review of the ThinkPad X220, we said the near full-sized standard keyboard has great tactile feedback with little noise when the keys are pressed. Its build quality provides great support for the hands and does not flex much under pressure. The X220 also has proven durability due to its magnesium alloy and solid plastic parts cloaked in matte rubber paint, and has been tested to be reliable against all of the following:

  • Physical shock
  • Thermal shock
  • Altitude
  • Dust
  • Vibration
  • Temperature extremes: humidity, heat, and cold
The port selection is no joke, either, especially for a 12-inch notebook. ThinkPad X220 users will receive two HighSpeed USB 2.0 ports, the choice between one USB 2.0 port for charging or one SuperSpeed USB 3.0 port, a VGA port, Display Port, SDHC card reader, and a 54mm ExpressCard slot.

Users who choose the $806 sale model will receive a notebook with a higher-performing processor, the Intel Core i5-2520M dual-core processor. This is the CPU we had in our review model and our benchmark scores. In our review, we said our review unit scored impressively during our tests, and that the hard drive was extremely fast. The 6-cell 63Wh battery in the notebook was able to deliver an impressive 8 hours and 47 minutes of life during our standardized test.
