by Reads (8,912)

The 15.6-inch Lenovo G570 consumer general use notebook is currently on sale through Lenovo for as low as $499. There are other configurations that are also on sale; you can grab the closest configuration to our review unit for $579 by using the eCoupon code “WEEKLYDEALG570” on Lenovo’s site.

Our review unit was equipped with an Intel Core i5-2410M dual-core processor, Intel HD 3000 graphics, 4GB RAM, and a 500GB capacity hard drive with a rotational speed of 5400rpm. We found that these specifications could handle everyday tasks such as multitasking very well, and were pleased with the synthetic benchmark scores that were produced.

In our review of the Lenovo G470 we said the build quality, performance, audio quality, battery life, and keyboard were the main highlights of the system. Its build quality adds a solid feel to the chassis and the keyboard flexes little when pressure is applied. The display and lid are made of glossy and molded plastics; the areas around the keyboard are covered in a stronger brushed aluminum.

The port selection includes HDMI, 4 USB 2.0, eSATA, VGA, and a 6-in-1 media card reader. The selection also includes a DVD-multi/CD RW optical drive (depending on configuration), a lock slot, and a wireless on/off switch.

When compared to the previous generation 15.6-inch G-series notebook, the hardware has improved a great deal. When tested, our review unit proved that it was able to play movies, multi-task, and users should be able to do some light gaming. The notebook was considerably fast and the programs were responsive. To put it in prospective, the G570 ranked above the popular Dell Inspiron 15R and the Asus K53E-B1 in overall system performance. During our standard battery test, our review unit lasted a solid 4 hours and 32 minutes.
