Chip Giant Intel has decided not to adopt Windows Vista.
According to the anonymous contact at Intel, “This isn’t a matter of dissing Microsoft, but Intel information technology staff just found no compelling case for adopting Vista.” Windows Vista will not be adopted across most of the computers used by the company’s 80,000 employees.
Intel is a longstanding partner of Microsoft, and the two have worked together from the beginning.
One thing is for sure – Intel is not alone in rejecting Vista. It is typical for companies to wait 12 months before adopting a new OS, but not 18 months. According to David Smith, a Gartner analyst, “But by 18 months, you’d expect to see a significant uptake, and we haven’t seen that. There’s not much excitement.”
