Intel introduces CULV platform for ultraportables

What is this, another small notebook platform? According to a DigiTimes report, Intel plans to introduce a Consumer Ultra Low-Voltage (CULV) platform for ultraportable notebooks in the second quarter of this year. Prices for notebooks based on the CULV platform are expected to be US$699 – $899. The CULV platform is most likely Intel’s answer to AMD’s Yukon platform, used in small notebooks like the HP Pavilion dv2.

Intel will have four notebook segments this year: 12.1-inch and larger normal notebooks, netbooks (Atom/Pineview platform based), Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs)(Menlow-based), and finally ultraportable notebooks with an 11 – 13.3-inch display.
