HP to Launch Record Low Price 15.4-inch Notebooks in January
According to reports from news sources in Taiwan, Hewlett-Packard (HP) will launch three 15.4-inch notebooks for the entry-level consumer market in January or February of 2004. This move will raise the bar higher on customer expecations for receiving a large sized monitor with cheaply priced notebooks.
The three models to be released are the Presario R3000T, Pavilion zv5000 and Pavilion zx5000. HP will outsource the production of all three models to a Taiwanese company named Compal Electronics.
With the Presario R3000T and Pavilion zv5000 HP hopes to directly compete with the Dell Inspiron 8600. The Dell Inspiron 8600 has a price tag starting at $1,349 but HP will beat this price by offering the R3000T and zv5000 for $999, an amazing bargain for such a large sized notebook.
