HP’s new gaming effort, the HP Swing, recently launched in India. It’s being sold as part of HP’s Pavilion line of desktops, and for the moment, it’s India only. The controllers are pretty slick, with glossy black construction and a few side-mounted buttons along with a trigger.
HP certainly isn’t the first major computer company to get into the motion-sensing game (haha); both Lenovo and ASUS have muscled in on the Wii’s territory with efforts of their own. ASUS’ efforts use a Wii-like controller similar to the HP Swing, while Lenovo takes advantage of an accelerometer-equipped super remote control that also doubles as a VOIP phone.
There’s no word as yet if HP will expand the range of the HP Swing to territories outside of India (it looks unlikely at this point) but you never know. If they think it’ll be popular enough to be worth the effort, it’ll be here lickity-split.
