Google, Google, Google. They’re taking over. First, a search engine. A browser. A mobile operating system. Then, an OS? TechCrunch seems to think that the first release may be coming soon. As early, in fact, as next week.
It’s been a few months since the official announcement, and a primary build was expected before Christmas. Given the beta nature of Google’s previous releases, there’s no doubt it’ll work…sort of. It’s a beta – and it’s Linux – meaning driver support will in all likelihood be flaky, especially since Google is going to have to write much of them themselves, or rely on the kindheartedness (ha) of manufacturers. Still, given the relative success Android has been experiencing, Chrome OS is definitely something we’ll explore in depth the second it launches. <a href=http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/11/13/google-chrome-os-to-launch-within-a-week/
