Gateway today announced its first touch screen notebook models in its LT and NV Series of laptops. The two new touchscreen notebook lines — the Gateway LT41P and Gateway NV570P — feature HD touch screen displays with resolutions of 1366 x 768 and come with Windows 8.

The new notebook lines are priced to fit into any budget and Gateway is targeting small business users who may want to purchase a new PC by the end of the tax year, students who need a new laptop for school, or for families who need a way to stay in-touch (ppardon the punn).

Both new notebook lines feature frameless edge-to-edge displays with 10-point touch. Customers can also pinch, flick and swirl their fingers on the multi-gesture touchpad if they don’t want to touch the screen.

Gateway LT41P Series: Compact Essentials

The new Gateway LT41P boasts a 10.1-inch HD LCD touch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution supported by Intel HD graphics. This notebook has two stereo speakers in a (relatively) thin and light package that measures just over one inch and weighs 2.83 pounds. This means the LT41P isn’t the thinnest and lightest laptop on the market, but it delivers reasonably impressive mobility for a full-featured Windows 8 laptop priced at around $330.

The Gateway LT41P notebook line is available with a variety of Intel Celeron processors, 2GB DDR3 SDRAM, up to a 500GB hard drive, and 5 hours of battery life. This budget notebook comes with two USB 2.0 ports, HDMI port, HD webcam, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and SD card reader.

Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 Edition comes ready to be activated on the new Gateway LT41P at no additional expense.

Gateway NV570P Series: 15.6-inch Display and More

New Gateway NV570P notebooks feature a large 15.6-inch HD widescreen LED-backlit touch screen display and 3rd generation Intel Core processors for bigger visuals and greater multitasking performance.  The systems come with up to 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM as well as Intel HD Graphics 4000. Add to that stero speakers and large hard drives with up to 750GB of capacity. Most models in the NV570P line are integrated with a super-multi DVD drive that is M-DISC READY for use with M-DISC media that is designed to last up to 1,000 years.

As with the LT41P, the larger NV570P also includes two USB 2.0 ports but also a single USB 3.0 port for faster data transfers. The NV570P also  includes 802.11b/g/n wireless, bluetooth, HD webcam, HDMI and SD card reader.

Pricing and Availability

The manufacturer’s suggested retail pricing for the Gateway LT41P Series notebook line with a 10.1-inch display and Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013 starts at $329.99. MSRP for the Gateway NV570P Series with a 15.6-inch display starts at only $449.99. Both new lines come with a one year limited parts and labor warranty.
