Just several weeks into its release, Fujitsu is planning to update the S7000 series. They also informed us that concerns over the keyboard quality are unfounded, the problem has been resolved.
On the refresh front, we don’t know anything other than it’s coming in the next several weeks. It’s unknown what upgrades will be involved, but it’s reasonable to guess Bluetooth could be involved. Less likely is the possibility that they’ll be re-releasing with the Dothan processors from Intel.
On the keyboard front, it appears that the scare started by PC Mag was completely false. Well, not really false, but not accurate. Fujitsu made the mistake of sending a pre-production unit to them for review. During Fujitsu’s final testing they realized keyboard support was weak and reinforced it before going to production. It was too late though for PC Mag, who published the article before anyone knew of the fix. It’s always hard to get the genie back in the bottle, but the negativity surrounding this issue may be part of the reason for the quick refresh.
