Just when you thought Lenovo had run out of product lines to promote at the 2015 International Consumer Electronics Show, the company announced its refreshed lineup of YOGA convertible notebooks. The YOGA laptop family includes the thin and light YOGA 3 in 11-inch and 14-inch models as well as the business-class ThinkPad YOGA available in a 12-inch model, and a 14-inch and 15-inch model with Intel RealSense 3D camera.

YOGA 3: Flexible Fun

The new YOGA 3 gives you the choice of a 2-in-1 laptop with either the traditional 11-inch or a new 14-inch touchscreen. Both convertible models feature an “envelope-thin design” that measures 18.3mm thin or less. In fact, the larger 14-inch model is still impressively mobile thanks to the fact that Lenovo engineers squeezed a 14-inch screen into a 13-inch chassis.

And at just 15.8mm thin and 1.1kg, the 11-in model remains the lightest convertible in the YOGA family. Both feature the classic YOGA two-hinge design allowing the screen to flip back 360 degrees to allow users to switch between four special modes – Laptop, Stand, Tent, and Tablet. Lenovo refined the hinge to now open and close more smoothly and also allow the screen to lay flat at 180 degrees for sharing content around a desk.

The YOGA 3 convertibles are available with up to Intel Core i7 processors on the 14-in model, Windows 8.1, FHD screens and fast 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Both the YOGA 3 11-inch and 14-inch will be available in March with models starting at $799 and $979, respectively, via Best Buy and www.lenovo.com. Multiple configurations will be available in Clementine Orange, Platinum Silver, new Chalk White or Ebony Black.

ThinkPad YOGA: Multimode Multitasking

Lenovo has also unveiled the new ThinkPad YOGA 12-inch, 14-inch, and the all-new 15-inch convertibles for businesses that recognize the value and productivity benefits of a multimode laptop design. Built specifically with professionals and students in mind, the ThinkPad YOGA features the new ActivePen technology in select models along with “all day battery life and an optional 3D camera on the ThinkPad YOGA 15.”

Select configurations of the ThinkPad YOGA notebooks feature an optional ActivePen for handwriting and drawing directly on the screen. The ActivePen is ideal for taking notes, signing legal documents, or creating presentations with a personal touch. The ThinkPad YOGA 12 continues to offer a digitizer/pen option that provides an internal storage garage for the pen.

The ThinkPad Yoga models continue to feature a “Lift n’ Lock” keyboard which prevents keys from being pressed an makes the keyboard surface more comfortable to hold in Tablet mode. The 12-inch model is just 19mm thin and weighs less than 1.5kg, and all models come in black with a backlit keyboard as well as FHD touch display.
