Double Fine Doubles Down, Announces ‘Massive Chalice’ Kickstarter

by Reads (841)

Double Fine is the studio behind some extremely successful – and some not so successful  – video games, all of which are known for some degree of quirkiness or whimsy. The company achieved outstanding success with their first ever Kickstarter, a campaign designed to fun Broken Age, an upcoming Double Fine game. The move was so successful that they reached more than 800% of their original goal – which was $400,000.

This new game, Massive Chalice promises to see you become an immortal ruler in charge of protecting your kingdom from outside threats, mixing your heroes’ bloodlines to create the next generation of soldiers, and so on. Like other recent efforts, Double Fine plans to release M.C. on Windows, OS X, and Linux.

Securing a copy of the game means pledging $20 right now, with an expected delivery date of late next year. The studio set a funding goal of $750,000, but they’re very nearly there already; given the 25 days left in the fundraising portion of the project, it seems like they might have another runaway Kickstarter success.
