The industry may be caught up in tablet PC fever, but desktop systems are still a mainstay among a lot of consumer and business users who rely on these systems as standalone and networked hubs.
Home office workers may be the biggest fans of these systems since the latest designs take up little space and desktops can be easily expanded to accommodate additional memory, storage and a variety of add devices. In fact, close to 2 million more home-based businesses will be added over the next few years due to an improving economy, totaling more than 27 million by 2015, according to market researcher International Data Corp.
The number of telecommuters – or people who work for corporations from their home at least part of the day – is also expected to rise by about 180,000 per year, say researchers. This means more potential interest in powerful and flexible desktop systems.
To keep pace with this growth, DesktopReview has joined its sister sites in launching a new design that takes advantage of the very latest in Web and video technology to put more product and comparative information at your fingertips. The new and fresh design also offers a more organized display for easy access to important news, reviews and evaluations of desktop PC systems and software, all in an effort to provide you with important buying data that gives you an edge in making your purchase decision for home, personal or business use.
We’ve also organized desktop PCs into four main categories to make it easy to search for the latest systems. These include: Business Desktops, from basic units to workstations; Mainstream Desktops, which include lower-priced PCs; Performance Desktops, equipped with powerful processors and lots of extras to handle graphics -intensive and entertainment applications; and Gaming Desktops, which are typically bigger and pack more graphics muscle than your average systems.
As in the redesign of TechnologyGuide’s other sites, we also expanded our capabilities to handle more photos, videos and graphics to provide a rich and enriching experience for all types of users. The revamped design can also better support our test and evaluation statistics to provide a quick and easy way to make selection and purchase decisions.
We’re excited about DesktopReview’s new look and feel, and how you agree that it’s a positive step forward in our mission to be the top source for desktop system news and reviews. We invite you to take a look at the new DesktopReview and let us know what you think about the design, or if you have some thoughts on how to make it even better.
