Following up on the launch of eight color laser-class printers last month, Dell announced three new monochrome laser printers, a refreshed MFP and a new universal print driver, the Dell Open Print Driver.

Three of the four models, the 2350d, the 2350dn and the 2355dn are new while the fourth, the 2335dn, is a refreshed model.

The single function 2350 series replaces the 2330 series and offers users print speeds up to 40 pages per minute (ppm) with a print resolution up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, a low cost per page at less than two cents, a 60,000 maximum monthly duty cycle and automatic duplexing.

The 2350d features a high speed USB 2.0 port and a parallel port while the 2350dn adds built-in networking for an additional $50. Customers can also add an optional 550-sheet drawer and additional memory.

The multifunction 2355dn is the first mainstream monochrome laser printer from Dell featuring a 4.3-inch color touch screen. The 2355dn offers a print, scan, copy and fax capabilities as well as print speeds up to 35 ppm with a print resolution up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, a maximum monthly duty cycle up to 80,000 pages, a low cost per page under two cents, 50-sheet automatic document feeder, built-in duplexing, front side USB port and built-in networking.

The 2355dn can also be shipped with an additional 250-sheet paper drawer, memory and wireless adapter.

The 2335dn has been refreshed with an increased maximum monthly duty cycle (60,000 pages) and doubled standard memory (256 MB).

All three of the new printers are available today through the Dell website. The suggested retail price for the Dell 2350d is $249, the Dell 2350dn is $299 and the Dell 2355dn is $599.

The Dell Open Print Driver is the first single universal print driver from the popular manufacturer that supports most features in multi-core for both Dell and other brand print devices. Users/IT managers download one software package that gives access to all available printers through one common user interface.

The Open Print Driver supports the following operating systems: Windows Server, XP, Vista, 7 and Citrix Presentation Server.

The new driver is under 5 MB and can be downloaded for free through the Dell website. Tech support will be provided to Dell customers with a valid hardware limited warranty.
