Dell has announced that its new Precision Mobile Workstations, the M4600 and M6600, will be available May 10 starting at just under $1,700. The newly announced Dell Precision 15.6-inch M4600 and 17.3-inch M6600 feature Nvidia Quadro and AMD FirePro workstation graphics cards and second-generation Intel processors. Both notebooks also offer up to 32GB of RAM as well as hard drive and SSD options. The M4600 will have up to two storage drives and the M6600 up to three with RAID 5 support.
Initially the M4600 will be offered with AMD FirePro M5950, Nvidia Quadro 1000M and 2000M graphics card options; the M6600 will offer the AMD FirePro M8900 and Nvidia Quadro 3000M and 4000M at release; the flagship Quadro 5010M with 4GB of dedicated memory will be offered on the M6600 “in the coming weeks”.
One of the most exciting aspects of the new Precision M4600 and M6600 is the optional “PremierColor” display, which is an IPS-type panel with RGB LED backlighting. Monitor calibration software is included with the screen. An IPS-type panel has much wider viewing angles and are often used by graphics professionals for their accuracy. Other features of the new notebooks include USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, MIL-STD 810G certification for ruggedness, and various other certifications from companies including Autodesk and Dassault Systemes.

The Dell Precision M4600 and M6600 will go on sale globally starting May 10 starting at $1,678 and $2,158, respectively.
