Dell Announces New Inspiron Notebooks and Desktops

Dell today has unveiled its next generation of Inspiron laptops. The Inspiron 1420, Inspiron 1520 and Inspiron 1720 are all powered by Intel’s new Santa Rosa platform while the Inspiron 1521 and Inspiron 1721 have AMD processors under the hood.

Dell Inspiron 1520 and 1521

The Dell Inspiron 1520 is a 15.4" widescreen notebook powered by the Intel Santa Rosa platform. The Inspiron 1520 replaces the popular Inspiron e1505 notebook. Gone from the 1520 are the white bumpers that the Inspiron e1505 had though. Dell is sprucing things up by giving buyers the choice between 8-different colors for the lid. Ruby Red, Midnight Blue and Jet Black are just a few examples of choices you’ll get.

The Dell Inspiron 1521 is the same in terms of design and build except it will offer an AMD processor and platform. So the processor and graphics options for the 1521 will be as follows:

Dell Inspiron 1720 and 1721

The Dell Inspiron 1720 is the larger brother of the Inspiron 1520. The 1720 sports a 17" widescreen display and comes with the same 8-color options as the 1520. The Inspiron 1720 of course has the new Intel Santa Rosa platform, while the Dell Inspiron 1721 has an AMD platform. The Inspiron 1720 specs are as follows:

The Dell Inspiron 1420 is the runt of the new Inspiron litter with its 14.1" widescreen display. But it’s probably the perfect size for those that need to be able to carry a laptop around a lot. Following are the full specs:

Dell Inspiron 530, 530s and 531, 531s desktops

That’s right, the Inspiron line now covers both notebooks and desktops! Dell Inspiron desktops are designed to help customers take control of their digital life, offering impressive flexibility in choice of form factors and configurations. The mini-tower supports expandability, while the slim-tower is 41 percent smaller in size, but doesn’t compromise on performance. Starting at $349, all can be configured with a wide variety of technologies, like robust graphics, widescreen displays, TV tuner cards and sound systems that can easily take on challenging digital entertainment and gaming activities.

Inspiron desktops make great media hubs, supporting up to 500GB of hard drive space and can be configured with Dell DataSafeBackup Internal, which provides fast, easy, and automatic local backup of everything on the hard drive.  The Inspiron 530 and 530s desktops feature Celeron to Intel Core 2 Duo processors, and the Inspiron 531 and 531s feature AMD Sempron to Athlon 64 X2 dual core processors. Other features include
