Corsair today took the wraps off of their extravagant new Dominator GT line of DDR3 RAM.  The new modules are designed to eke out the maximum performance from Intel’s new Core i7 platform.

The standard line of Dominator GT memory will come in a 6GB kit running at 2000MHz with latency timings of 7-6-7.  Corsair will also be offering a cherry-picked version of the RAM for people who want the guaranteered best speed they can get.  The hand-tuned, cherry-picked modules will be offered in sets of 3 or 6GB, since Intel’s new i7 systems use tri-channel RAM.  As a result, users must equip three or six sticks of RAM to take advanrage of their system’s performance, compared with the two or four when using a DDR2 motherboard.

The striking memory is designed to work with multiple cooling systems, from simple air cooling, to liquid, even more complex phase-change systems.  Given the enthusiast nature of the new product, Corsair is trying to keep an air of superiority by making the memory available only from their own site.  The 3GB kit will sell for $299.99, the 6GB standard kit will run $479.99, and the 6GB hand-picked kit will run $579.99.
