While the Commodore of computing today has nothing save the name in common with the famed Commodore of yesteryear, they’re certainly determined to stay securely in the public eye. In 2007 they launched a new “C-kin” case theming feature on their gaming desktops. The new option offers consumers the chance to customize a new desktop chassis with one of over two hundred designs offered on Commodore’s website. Both interestingly and bafflingly, however, they’ve recently partnered with the MLB to sell four different C-kin designs based on four different MLB team logos.
If you like baseball (and I see no good reason why you shouldn’t), you can now get your favorite team’s logo plastered all over the side of your brand new Commodore desktop. Assuming, that is, that your favorite team is either the New York Yankees, the Philadelphia Phillies, the Boston Red Sox or the New York Mets. While showing off support for your favorite team might be admirable, I think there are certainly better options for your, er, case theming dollar. They would look great in a local sports bar or restaurant, however, and if you’ve got that shrine at home dedicated to America’s pasttime, well, now your computer can be part of the fun.
