Lexmark today announced the availability of cloud services for its enterprise-class ‘Print Release’ solutions. Users can now print from the cloud from mobile devices and still have all of the features the Print Release solutions offer. lexmark is enabling this upon a software as a service (SaaS) model.
Enterprise-class businesses will choose for the service to be delivered as a subscription or as an on-premise distribution. lexmark ensures that its Print Release solutions will stay secure; the company states that it manages “remotely in a secure data center.”
To print from the cloud, users may download the lexmark Mobile Printing app for Apple iOS and Android tablets and smartphones. The application allows users to run a print job to the print queue and then release the job at a Print Release device of their choosing. Users may also print from any number of email-enabled devices by attaching the print document to an email and then sending it to the company’s Print Release email account.
The Print Release solution also has a feature called Document Accounting; this allows users to keep track of and manage print jobs from a mobile device. This means a user could monitor all print jobs and other activities sent to an individual printer remotely.
This SaaS will be available through Lexmark’s professional services. It carries a subscription fee.
