CES 2013: CES Unveils Innovation Honorees

CES Unveiled 2013 was the first press event of the week and it was being held at the Mandalay Bay (where our team happens to be staying) so it was an easy decision to attend.

This is a much smaller event than the Pepcom Digital Experience or Showstoppers and the exhibitors reflect that with only a few big names in attendance. For us, it was a chance to check out the Best of Innovations 2013 honorees which included Sculpteo.

For those who follow PrinterComparison, you might remember Sculpteo and their inventive 3D printing app from CES 2012 when they demonstrated how to turn human data into art.

This year, they are taking 3D printing from the cloud further with the 3DPCase app.  The 3DPCase app takes customer’s imagery and turns into a unique iPhone case. We will be touring the Sculpteo Booth at the Las Vegas Convention Center tomorrow when CES 2013 officially opens its doors so check back to find out more about how the application works!

We also saw a ton of cool stuff that was unrelated to printing including flying robots, robotic balls and a fitness robot (are you sensing the trend here?) but we’ll leave that stuff to our sister sites.

Tonight, we the Digital Experience Event being held at the MGM where the big manufacturers – Canon, Fujitsu, HP, Lantronix, Polaroid, Samsung – will be showing off their latest and greatest for 2013. Check back tomorrow morning for a behind the scenes look!
