Canon announced the launch of a new category within their large format printing lineup, the imagePROGRAF MFP image systems.

The five new imagePROGRAF MFPs are targeted at the technical document market (think architects and engineers) by offering a Dell Inspiron 560S computer, a Ci C40 color scanner with a 40-inch scan width and scan speeds up to 10 inches per second, an optical print resolution up to 600 dpi, a 21.5-inch touch screen and one of five imagePROGRAF (iPF) models with each system.

The five configurations can be one of the following: the 36-inch iPF710, iPF750 and iPF755 units or the 44-inch iPF815 and the iPF825 units.

All five printers include five color printing with 4pl ink droplet for high resolution, an Economy Print mode, instant warm-up, a front document exit and face-up paper feed with automatic size detection.

The new systems start at $7,495 for the 36-inch iPF710 and top out at $11,495 for the 44-inch iPF825. All of the new models will be available for shipping in mid-December
