With the news that Boxee would soon be entering the beta phase (having been conducting an alpha for about a year now), it was also announced that they’d found their first hardware partners. D-Link will be the first company to produce hardware running Boxee software (presumably on top of Linux, but that wasn’t covered in the announcements). This won’t be D-Link’s first time at the rodeo, as they’ve been trying to break into the living room market for years now with varying degrees of success. With Boxee behind them, however, this might be their chance to really do something.
All that was unveiled was this rendering and a couple of mockups of the beta interface, which will slowly be going out before its big reveal at CES next month. As of yet, no one has said anything about possible prices or hardware specifications.
