botObjects Presents World’s First Full Color 3D Desktop Printer

botObjects quietly unveiled the new ProDesk3D, “the world’s first full color 3D desktop printer,” earlier this week and it has created a quite a stir in the 3D printing world thanks to a number of new specs.

The ProDesk3D uses a proprietary 5-color PLA cartridge system (although it can print with ABS material as well), similar to what you see on a typical inkjet printer that allows for mixing of primary colors to create a variety of colors. The ProDesk3D also uses a dual-nozzle print head to include a PVA-based support material that helps create more complex designs without a finishing set or additional chemicals.

There is no additional setup required with the ProDesk3D printer, as it comes ready to use out of the box. The printer has a self-calibrating platform (auto-leveling of the build platform), yet another first for a 3D desktop printer.

No pricing was available as of this writing but botObjects is shooting for a release this summer. For more information, check out the botObjects website.
