Starting this Tuesday, April 2nd, Gearbox will be updating the super popular adventure FPS Borderlands 2 title to enable a higher level cap for all players. At the moment, it’s the end of the road once you hit level 50 – you can definitely keep playing and collecting various weapons, items, and money, but you won’t be able to keep upgrading your vault hunter. The update will let you take your character all the way to 61.
The downside? It’s not going to come free. If you’ve paid for the Borderlands 2 Season Pass, which lets you pay an upfront fee and get each season’s DLC as it comes out, you’re good to go. The rest of us, however, will have to shell out $4.99 for the privilege. In addition to the level cap increase, gamers will get access to a new weapon tier – “Pearlescent”. You won’t see them too often, however, as Pearlescent weapons are set to be among the rarest items in the game.
Finally, there’s also going to be a new gameplay mode added, as well, called “Ultimate Vault Hunter’s Mode”. The new mode will be made available to all players free of charge. In order to get access to the new mode, you’ll need to beat the current True Vault Hunter Mode, and be at least level 50.
