BMW has joined Sheraton hotels and certain AT&T stores in rolling out Microsoft Surface units to specific dealerships. The new units run custom software that lets customers pick out BMW automobiles, customize them, compare models, change paint colors and more.
Called the BMW Product Navigator, the machines take advantage of a lot Surface-based tech we haven’t seen many customers use yet, such as small glass tiles that perform specific actions. In this case, you can plop a new tile onto the screen and instantly change the car’s color. When customers finish up, they can insert a USB flash drive and take home all the information they generated for later perusal.
