ATI has begun shipping its new Radeon HD 4850 graphics card to OEM partners and retailers.
The Radeon 4850 512MB will be the first board to be launched; it will feature GDDR3 memory and a price range between $179 and $219, most likely $199. AMD/ATI will reportedly decide on the final pricing scheme at Computex Taipei. June 18 is looking like the official launch date for the new Radeon 4000 series.
The Radeon 4870 is expected to ship in volume later this summer. It will feature GDDR5 memory and compete with the Nvidia GeForce GTX 260.
It is shaping up to be an all-out battle between ATI and Nvidia for the performance crown; actual performance of the next-gen cards is yet to be revealed.
