Asus released the Transformer Book T200, its latest 2-in-1 notebook, in the U.S. today.
The Transformer Book T200 is an update to the popular Asus Transformer Book T100. The T200 is a hybrid with a Windows 8.1 tablet and a keyboard dock that allows it to function as a full laptop.
The T200 has an 11.6-inch IPS display, as compared to the 10.1-inch screen on the T100 model. Unfortunately, the new version features the same 1366 x 768 resolution. The slate tablet portion has a microSD slot and microUSB port, while the keyboard dock features full size USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, audio in/out, and a microHDMI port. Asus claims the device’s battery is good for 8.5 hours of continuous use.
Best Buy is selling a version of the notebook that runs on an Intel Atom Z3775 quad-core processor running at 1.46 GHz with 2 GB RAM and 32 GB of onboard storage for $400. The device also comes with Microsoft Office Home & Student (2013).
Various other retailers are offering a version of the T200 that runs on a faster 1.59 GHz Intel Atom Z3795 quad-core processor but with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage. This higher-end configuration is available for $500 at Amazon while the latest version of the older T100 is still available for $379 in the Microsoft store.
