If you’ve bought any television episodes through iTunes – and no doubt, a great many of you have – then you’re going to be doubly interested in the latest iOS software update for the Apple TV. Released today, the new software allows Apple TV owners to stream any previously purchased television content from iTunes to their Apple TVs, all free of charge.
Previously, getting your iTunes video content required you to have it downloaded to a local Mac, and then have that computer running for the entire time you wanted to stream it – not any more!
It certainly makes acquiring iTunes TV content that much more attractive since you don’t need to wait forever to download something, and you don’t need to worry about keeping it around afterwards. You can just delete it, and if you want to watch it again, go ahead and stream it.
Unfortunately, v4.3 of the Apple TV firmware only lets you buy and stream TV shows to the palm-sized device. There’s currently no support for movies, which is a little odd and probably related to the voractious movie industry.
