Apple just announced plans to hold a “Back to the Mac” press event next week. Mum’s the word regarding other announcements, at least for now – but the invitation itself gives off a few clues.
The Back to the Mac title seems to imply that Apple wants this event to focus on the computer side of its products. While the iPhone and iPad have been extremely successful in recent months, people still like Apple computers, and Apple needs to refresh them.
The iMac and Mac Mini saw fairly recent product updates, so it’s unlikely that they’re going to be changed – apart, perhaps, from a few slight spec bumps. The Mac Pro might see some love, though, and on the notebook side, the Macbook Air especially is crying out for updates.
It’s not just hardware, though – see the lion peeking out behind the logo? It’s getting time for Apple to start showing off the early starts to its next operating system update and 10.7 – like the previous iterations of OS X – will undoubtedly follow the big cat naming schema.
We’ll be there to bring you coverage of the event, so stay tuned for further updates! It all goes down on 10/20/10 at 10AM Pacific.
