Today, AOC released the full high definition (FHD), 1080p (1920 x 1080) WLED-backlit monitor with multi-touch functionalities (model e2239FwT) for desktop PCs and notebooks. The 22-inch widescreen Touch Monitor or “Touchpal” features a dual-stand with its feet containing die-casted metal, a glossy black bezel and a white glossy back. The monitor is being targeted at both entertainment consumers and graphic arts professionals who want a larger FHD display with multi-touch input.
The AOC Touchpal has a glare-minimizing panel with a 16:9 aspect ratio, 5ms response time, and a 10,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast ratio. An SRS speaker bar is also included, built into the bottom under the screen. Press papers following its release stated that the monitor is able to bring FHD video with no distortion or “black bars.”
AOC points out that the monitor can also be considered to be space-saving: users can store a keyboard or other items under the monitor since it features two legs instead of one central stand. Notebook users may also place the laptop under the stand and use the Touchpal monitor instead of the notebook monitor (provided that it fits underneath). Other features include an on-screen menu, two HDMI ports, and two USB 2.0 ports. The monitor uses 0.1W in standby mode and about 25W in “normal” use.
The AOC Touch Monitor (e2239FwT) is now being sold through national retailers such as TigerDirect and Amazon for $299.
