AMD to introduce low-power triple- and quad-core processors in 2H’08

According to a DigiTimes report, AMD is planning to introduce low-power triple- and quad-core processors in the second half of this year.

The two triple-core processors will be the Phenom X3 8250e and 8450e, with frequencies of 1.9 and 2.1GHz respectively. They will have a 1.5MB L2 cache and 2MB L3 cache. Mass production should start in early August, and the processors should be available mid-August in the channel.

AMD will launch the low-power Phenom X4 9350e in Q3. Starting in the first quarter of 2009, AMD will begin to introduce its 45nm quad-core ‘Propus’ CPUs, with frequencies ranging from 2.3 – 2.6GHz.
