After surviving for forty years in the high tech arena, AMD was all too happy to announce that they’d managed to ship their 500 millionth x86 processor this week.  These include processors for supercomputers, servers, desktops and laptops made over the last almost thirty years.

2009 has been a celebratory year for AMD, with their celebration of their fortieth anniversary, as well as shipping some of the best value CPUs and GPUs in the business.

Intel wouldn’t give specific dates, but mentioned that they’d shipped their own 500 millionth x86 processor some time ago.
