AMD on Sunday unveiled Business Class desktops, its first computer brand, targeted at small and medium businesses. AMD designed its Business Class desktops with design and sales help from major customers such as Dell and HP. AMD is planning to release notebooks under the same brand later this year.
The brand was created out of AMD’s need to revitalize its competitiveness with rival chip maker Intel. The Business Class desktops will be sold by Acer, Dell, Fujitsu-Siemens, HP, and Lenovo. Specifications for the desktops start with AMD processors including the Athlon X2, Phenom X3, and Phenom X4, ATI graphics cards including the Radeon HD 3000 series, and AMD 780V chipsets.
