AMD Announces Radeon HD 6990M Gaming Graphics Card

The 6990M is AMD’s new flagship gaming graphics card, which it says is the fastest in the world. AMD claims it to be up to 25% faster than ‘any other announced notebook enthusiast GPU’ – that means Nvidia’s recently-announced GTX 580M. The 6990M supports AMD Eyefinity multi-monitor technology along with Microsoft DirectX 11 and Stereo 3D support.

AMD says the 6990M is a ‘significant’ upgrade from the its previous flagship card, the 6970M.

Alienware will be offering the HD 6990M soon in its 18.4-inch M18x gaming notebook as a single card and in the dual-card CrossFireX configuration. The card will also be available in Clevo X7200/P170HM/P150HM notebooks.
