AMD announces AMD GAME!, brings simplicity to mainstream PC gaming

AMD today announced AMD GAME!, a program designed to help consumers easily find PCs suited to high-definition gaming. AMD GAME! PCs include multi-core processors and powerful graphics cards.

The AMD GAME! initiative helps mainstream consumers easily find a PC that suits their needs. The goal is to give them a great gaming experience right out of the box by putting together trusted components. AMD wants consumers to be able to enjoy games without stuttering or lag. The company is currently working with computer companies to create PC hardware configurations optimized for many types of users.

There are two versions of AMD GAME! systems: AMD GAME! and AMD GAME! ULTRA. The baseline AMD GAME! systems have the following requirements:

  • AMD Athlon X2 5600+ processor
  • ATI Radeon HD 3650 graphics
  • AMD 770 chipset

The AMD GAME! ULTRA systems require:

  • AMD Phenom X4 9500 processor
  • ATI Radeon HD 3850 graphics
  • AMD 770 chipset

Both configurations require high-definition monitors. AMD has listed many tested configurations on their website; the following is an example of an AMD GAME! ULTRA system:

AMD GAME! platforms are available now from vendors including Alienware, CyberPower, iBuyPower, Maingear, and Velocity Micro. Retail availability of systems is expected in the second half of this year.
