Today, the Taiwanese memory giant ADATA released their latest flash product, the N005 USB flash drive. While ADATA is something of an unknown name here in the United States, they’re the force behind a number a rebadged USB memory products. The N005 is the newest, and one of their most stylish, offerings.
The new N005 (N standing for “Nobility series”) promises significantly faster read and write performance over USB2.0 drives. Where most current flash drives clock in somewhere around a maximum of 30MB/s, ADATA is promising transfer rates of up to 85MB/s with the N005.
The N005 is fitted into a snug, black aluminum enclosure with an accompanying metal cap that can be snapped onto the rear to avoid being lost. Backed by a limited lifetime product warranty, ADATA’s new drive can be found in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB memory densities.
In a brilliant move, the company decided to push its partners’ software, also known as bloatware, into a value-add download category, instead of forcing users to deal with software that comes pre-installed on the drive. There’s no word yet on pricing or availability, but ADATA typically doesn’t unveil new products too soon before launch.
