Acer(R) America Corporation, an official supplier to the Scuderia Ferrari racing team and one of the leading worldwide suppliers of laptop PC solutions, today introduced the Ferrari 3200, a second-generation notebook that features a Mobile AMD Athlon(TM) 64 processor. This notebook follows the tradition of elegance, design and cutting-edge technology that, over the past year, has been the hallmark of the synergies between Acer and Ferrari, two companies renowned for their advanced research and constant commitment to innovation.

The Ferrari 3200 features the low-power Mobile AMD Athlon(TM) 64 processor 2800+ and ATI(R) MOBILITY(TM) RADEON 9700 graphics with 128MB of dedicated DDR memory. The 64-bit architecture of the Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor delivers leading-edge 32-bit performance, and provides a taste of the performance gains promised by future applications. In addition, the AMD PowerNow!(TM) technology extends battery life while HyperTransport(TM) technology radically improves multitasking.

“The Ferrari 3200 continues to push the envelope by offering the latest processor, a multi-format DVD burner and 128 megabytes of graphics power while being wrapped in its distinctive Ferrari red chassis,” said Maarten de Haas, vice president, notebook business unit, Acer America. “The Ferrari 3200 maintains the same innovative look and feel of its predecessor while raising the performance bar which was set with our original Ferrari notebook. This is a system that laps the competition and looks good doing it.”

The Ferrari 3200 from Acer is a full-featured, thin and light notebook with a brilliant, 200nit 15″ SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) TFT display and 512MB of DDR333 SDRAM upgradeable to 2GB system memory. In addition to wireless 802.11g, the Ferrari 3200 offers four USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire(R) (IEEE 1394) port, FIR (fast infrared), Giga LAN connection, 56K V.92 modem, S-video output and Bluetooth(TM) support.

This newest Acer notebook incorporates up to a 80GB ATA/100 removable hard drive, DVD Super-Multi (DVD +/- RW, – RAM) optical drive and 4-in-1-card reader for optional MultiMediaCard(TM) (MMC), Secure Digital (SD) card, SmartMedia(TM) card or Memory Stick(R). A high-capacity Li-ion battery delivers up to four hours of battery life. Preloaded with Microsoft(R) Windows(R) XP Pro and weighing just 6.5 pounds, the Ferrari 3200 is unlike anything else on the market — designed and built to stand out and to provide unmatched performance. The Ferrari 3200 is the achievement of the commitment to research and leadership of two companies from entirely different markets, inextricably linked by the constant and continuous improvements of their products.

The Ferrari 3200 is available through Acer authorized resellers and retail outlets throughout North America starting at approximately $1999.
