On Monday Acer announced the availability of its newest addition to the company’s C7 Chromebook line, the Acer C710-2856. The new device looks to offer an affordable SSD chromebook option and is currently available at select Walmart retailers for $200.
The C710-2856 employs a 16 GB SSD boasting 8 second boot up speeds, near instant resume times from sleep mode and faster data retrieval. The chromebook is powered by a 1.1 GHz Intel Celeron 847 processor, with 2 GB of RAM. The device offers an 11.6″ HD Widescreen CineCrystal LED-backlit LCD displays, an HD 1.3MP webcam, and runs on Google’s Chrome OS. The device also offers a one year standard warranty.
Same Specs, Different Retailer?
The new C710-2856 appears to be very similar to recently offered Acer C710-2033 which is currently available at BestBuy for $200. Both chromebooks appear near identical with the only discernible difference being that the C710-2856 is tied to Walmart, while the C710-2033 is a BestBuy exclusive.
This occurrence could be indicative of the current high volume chromebook market, where the retailer is deemed just as important as the product itself.
