Abit to possibly phase out of motherboard market

According to a DigiTimes report, Abit is considering phasing out of the motherboard market after the Intel 4-series chipset launch. The company has dismissed the speculation and says it will continue to produce motherboards.

Abit has not met the expectations of its parent company, Universal Scientific Industrial (USI), in the motherboard market, and is looking to develop other products for the company to produce. Abit shipped between two and three million motherboards in 2007, and while it set a goal of six million for this year, its shipments have so far decreased.
