Asus' CEO has good news for those in the U.S. who are eagerly awaiting the new version of his company's low-cost laptop: the Eee PC 900 is going to be released sooner than many had expected, and cost less than had been feared.
Today Asus finally released a 9" version of the much loved Eee PC at CeBit in Germany. Rumors have been flying back and forth on this speculated model in the past, but it appears Asus finally took action and brought this larger screened UMPC to the market. Not much has changed with this model from its smaller 7" brother, with a larger 12GB SSD option being the only additional option.
In the past few days it has been rumored that HP is going to enter the UMPC market, alongside Fujitsu, Asus, and others. This new device was hinted at being a lifestyle accessory that consumers would buy without a thought, like an iPod, cellphone or other frequently used item. Today, images of a new "HP Compaq 2133" and a vague spec sheet leaked bringing more truth to this rumored device, as well as many questions.
Asus didn't have a huge booth display at CES like some of the other players in the notebook space, but they did have an area to show off their new laptops to the press, following are some pictures and a run down of what Asus had for CES.
