Printer Tip No. 5
Going “Green” is a pretty generic statement but for technology manufacturers and users, it can mean saving money as well as helping the environment so this tip can be useful for consumers and businesses as well as customers looking for a new printer or a user looking to improve their current model.
For those of you shopping for a new home or business printer, make sure your model is Energy Star rated. This should not be difficult as most models are these days and the EPA’s guidelines aren’t super high. Check reviews for particular units you are interested in – Printer Comparison always lists the typical energy use for all models reviewed on our site.
There are plenty of cost effective and environmentally friendly features to be found as well. Look for automatic duplexing (double sided printing), toner saver mode or draft printing, sleep mode, PC scanning and faxing (on multifunction units), high capacity ink cartridges and one piece toner cartridges (that include drum) or even unique technology (like solid ink) on new models.
Chances are, current models will have one or more of the above features that can help consumers and businesses alike streamline their printing and save money as well as resources.
