The Lexmark X466de is not as large as I expected it to be when I first wrote about the series during the 2009 launch. In fact, I lifted it myself into the light tent when I was taking the first round of photos for this article. Its non-use standard operation dimensions are about 21 x 19 x 17 inches but users will need to consider the scanner lid and optional paper trays when deciding where to set up shop.

The design of the X466de isnt anything to write home about; its fairly standard top to bottom with the casing done in a dark and light gray mixture with a Lexmark logo centered below the control panel. What is different about the Lexmark X466de is the 7-inch e-Task color touch screen that livens up an otherwise standard design.

The 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder is found on top of the X466de. The ADF allows users to scan, copy, or fax large documents without supervision.

The X466de flatbed scanner is equipped to scan double-sided documents up to 8.5 x 14 inches. You can get between 33 and 35 single-sided scans per minute or 12/13 double-sided scans per minute.

The previously mentioned 7-inch Lexmark e-Task color touch-screen is found centered on the front of the X466de. To the right of the touch-screen, users will find a numerical key pad and three quick keys: cancel, start, and home. The front side USB port is found to the left.

Beneath the control panel is the 150-sheet output bin with small extending tray. Press the button to the left and lift at the middle to reveal access to the toner cartridge. The monochrome Lexmark X466de is shipped with the estimated 7,000 page starter Return Program cartridge. Users can also purchase High Yield (estimated 9,000 pages) and Extra High Yield (estimated 15,000 pages) toner cartridges for the X466de.

The 50-sheet multipurpose tray is accessed by pulling open the front door. The multipurpose tray is great for printing single sheets, envelopes, labels, transparencies, card stock, etc.

The 250-sheet standard paper cassette is found at the bottom of the unit. The X466de is compatible with a variety of media including: A4, A5, executive, folio, legal, letter, statement, universal, etc. For offices with a larger print cycle, Lexmark offers an optional 550-sheet drawer for an overall paper capacity up to 850 sheets.

The X466de has built-in networking with an Ethernet 10/100 Base TX port or it can be set up over a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 connection. Lexmark also offers an optional wireless print server.

The Lexmark X466de monochrome multifunction laser printer is available now on Lexmark.com for $1,499.

Supplies and accessories can also be purchased on Lexmark.com. The Lexmark Extra High Yield Return Program cartridge is sold for $251.99, the Lexmark High Yield Return Program cartridge is sold for $193.99, and the Lexmark Return Program cartridge (standard yield) is sold for $99.99.
