Aorus brings true MultiCam camouflage to notebooks.

Gigabyte, a leading manufacturer of PC gaming hardware, has been busy upgrading its high-end Aorus series gaming notebook with water-transferred camouflage patterns. Check out our hands-on look.

For those who aren’t familiar with the brand, Aorus is Gigabyte’s high-end notebook line. These notebooks reside above Gigabyte’s already-formidable gaming notebooks, such as the 17.3-inch P57W. Aorus notebooks are designed to pack a maximum amount of power, yet be as thin and light as possible.

MultiCam Camouflage

Although its notebooks traditionally come wrapped in an all-black chassis, Gigabyte now offers the Aorus notebooks with camouflage patterns. Notebooks available with the camouflage include the 13.9-inch X3 Plus, 15.6-inch X5, and 17.3-inch X7 Pro. The camouflage isn’t just for aesthetics; it’s a registered pattern called MultiCam and this pattern is used by 26 armies around the world. This design isn’t a typical paint or wrap application either; Gigabyte applies MultiCam using a water-transfer pattern, a precision process that allows for extra attention to detail. Even the inside of the cooling vents and the speaker grilles have the pattern. Furthermore, each MultiCam camouflaged Aorus notebook is unique, as no two have the exact same pattern. Take a look at the following video to understand how the water transfer process works.

NotebookReview visited Gigabyte’s headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan for a hands-on look. The MultiCam finish is of exceptionally high quality, with excellent resolution. It has a smooth feel, and an almost-3D appearance. The fact that the pattern is applied to every surface, including the bottom, is hard to appreciate in a picture.

The MultiCam camouflaged Aorus notebooks are limited editions, with just 300 total units for each model. Each model is marked with its production number on the bottom of the chassis.
