When Epson unveiled a new series of all-in-one printers featuring the “world’s fastest print speeds” that were specifically designed for small and medium sized businesses earlier this fall, we were interested to see how these claims would hold up.
Well, we now have in our possession the flagship of the new 630 series, the WorkForce 635. The WorkForce 635 offers print speeds up to 15 ppm in black and 7.2 ppm in color as well as double-side black and white documents at a rate of 7.5 ppm challenging all AIO’s in its class (retail value is $229.99).
Today, we’ll be taking a hands-on first look at the Epson WorkForce 635 including an overview of the design and pricing, detailed specifications and, of course, a ton of photos.

BUILD AND DESIGN
The WorkForce 635 may look familiar to Epson customers who are aware of the previous generation WorkForce 610 or WorkForce 600. All three models share a black exterior with silver accents, an adjustable control panel featuring a 2.5-inch LCD and a top side automatic document feeder (ADF) with a sloping shape.
The major difference between the WorkForce 635 and the two previous models will be the absence of a rear loading paper tray. The WorkForce 635 is equipped with a 250-sheet paper cassette located underneath the output bin. Of course, even with the addition of a paper cassette the dimensions are nearly identical to the previous models at approximately 18 x 14 x 9 inches in storage mode.
As I mentioned previously, the WorkForce 635 includes a 30-sheet ADF that can handle double sided originals automatically. More impressively, the WorkForce 635 can handle a maximum paper size of 8.5 x 44 inches.
The 48-bit color flatbed scanner has an optical resolution up to 2400 dpi and a maximum resolution up to 9600 x 9600 dpi. Epson includes several scan-to features: Scan-to email, Scan-to memory card, Scan-to PC, etc.
Lift the machine open to access the ink cartridge carriage. The Epson WorkForce 635 comes with four Extra High Capacity DURABrite Ultra 127 pigment ink cartridges (CMYK) in the original packaging. Epson also offers High Capacity 126 cartridges for sale.
The adjustable control panel runs across the front of the WorkForce 635 with a 2.5-inch LCD nearly dead center along with a navigation pad, numerical key pad, device quick keys and a power button.
To the left of the output tray and paper cassette, users will find the built-in memory card reader and front side USB/PictBridge slot. The WorkForce 635 is compatible with CompactFlash, MicroDrive, Memory Stick, MagicGate Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, SD, SDHC, MultiMediaCard, MMCplus and xD-Picture Card (Type M, M+ and H).
The Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and Ethernet connections are found on the back left side of the WorkForce 635. All other connections are located on the back of the WorkForce 635.
