Epson announced the release of the Epson Expression Home XP-410 Small-in-One, an all-in-one inkjet targeted at families, young adults and students and we have an exclusive hands-on first look to share with our readers!

The Expression Home XP-410 will be replacing the Expression Home XP-400 in Epson?s inkjet lineup and offers many of the same features including print speeds up to 8.7 ppm in black and 4.5 ppm in color, a 2.5-inch LCD with touch panel, built-in card reader and wireless connectivity.

And for those of you who want more than a first look, check back later this week for the full review where we will share the results from our in-house test lab!

Build and Design

If you read our Epson Expression Home XP-400 review back in August, then you’ll immediately recognize the Expression

Home XP-410 since the two devices share the same dimensions at 15 x 12 x 6-inches in storage (15 x 21 x 11-inches in use) and an identical design with black paneling, the 2.5-inch LCD and smart touch adjustable touch panel, rear fed tray and 8.5 x 11-inch flatbed scanner.

The smart touch panel’s keys light up as needed, depending on the job the user is trying to perform. The only traditional key is the power button. The built-in memory card reader is found to the left of the control panel and is compatible with SD cards and Memory Stick/Memory Stick Duo.  I was a little bummed that Epson still hasn’t added a front side USB port.

The Expression Home XP-410 features a 100-sheet rear fed tray that can handle a variety of media ranging in size from 4 x 6-inches to 8.5 x 44-inches.

Lift at the center of the printer to access the four DURABrite Ultra pigment ink cartridges (CMYK). The Expression Home XP-410 comes with four standard capacity cartridges, but Epson offers high capacity replacement cartridges.

All the connections are found on the back corner of the Expression Home XP-410. Customers can choose between a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 or Wireless 802.11 b/g/n connection.
